In between photographs

Occasionally while I’m shooting a wedding there’s a little downtime that allows me to take a few fun shots while something else is happening. Here’s a few from a recent wedding.

I lost a bet…

…umm, not really.

I just decided to cut my hair short again. It hasn’t been like this for about five years.

It’s surprisingly breezy.

Bich and Theo’s wedding

March 16th, 2009 by paul

It’s been ages since my last weblog post we’ve had the chance to shoot a friend’s wedding. We’ve known Bich for just over five years now, and in that time she’s met, got engaged to, and married her now husband, Theo.

They’ve got one of those really cute “how they met” stories. Having just known each other as fellow students at Melbourne University, they chanced upon each other at Sunshine train station a few years later. After a brief re-acquaintance, their relationship blossomed into what they have today. With that story in mind, it was really great that they decided to have their wedding photos taken at Sunshine train station and Melbourne University.

Some may hesitate over the photo location of Sunshine train station (especially with a mugging there the previous week), but as I always tell my couples, the best location photos are taken at places that have meaning for them. Unfortunately I find too many couples are worried that some of the places special to them just aren’t pretty enough. Hopefully the below photos and the Sneak Peek will show you what can be some with supposedly non-photogenic locations.

Click on the below photo to catch a Sneak Peek. Oh, and in case you’re wondering about the music… Bich, Theo and the bridal party did a really fun (and super unique) choreographed Bollywood dance during the reception!

Below are a couple of photos taken from the Sneak Peek.

Natalie and Andrew’s wedding

January 14th, 2009 by paul

As you can tell from the date of my last entry I’ve been somewhat of an online recluse lately. However what better reason to start posting again than because of a great wedding shoot that we had on Saturday?

Natalie and Andrew have the cutest story. They attended the same primary and secondary schools together. But it wasn’t until after school had finished did they find each other again.

Click on the photo below to catch a Sneak Peek.

Alternatively, here’s some photos from the Sneak Peek in case you’re a bit short of time right now.

Please don’t judge

Let’s hope that your favourite movie doesn’t actually say that much about you, because mine’s copped a lot of laughs at its expense… especially because of the homoerotic overtones during one of its scenes… err…

I’ve just picked up a Special Edition copy of Top Gun - my all time favourite movie. Yeah, I actually already have a copy, but this one was $8.99 and it’s got a bunch of special featurettes.

Anyways… in my (and the movie’s defence), Top Gun was the first movie of it’s kind and has never been replicated since. The movie’s a bit corny at times, but it definitely was groundbreaking piece of cinema. It also launched the careers of a number of Hollywood stars including; Tom Cruise (heartthrob turned all round whacko), Anthony Edwards (best known for his work on E.R.), Meg Ryan (has-been romantic comedy star) and Tim Robbins (was famous, but hasn’t been in anything decent for a while).
