It’s been ages since my last weblog post we’ve had the chance to shoot a friend’s wedding. We’ve known Bich for just over five years now, and in that time she’s met, got engaged to, and married her now husband, Theo.
They’ve got one of those really cute “how they met” stories. Having just known each other as fellow students at Melbourne University, they chanced upon each other at Sunshine train station a few years later. After a brief re-acquaintance, their relationship blossomed into what they have today. With that story in mind, it was really great that they decided to have their wedding photos taken at Sunshine train station and Melbourne University.
Some may hesitate over the photo location of Sunshine train station (especially with a mugging there the previous week), but as I always tell my couples, the best location photos are taken at places that have meaning for them. Unfortunately I find too many couples are worried that some of the places special to them just aren’t pretty enough. Hopefully the below photos and the Sneak Peek will show you what can be some with supposedly non-photogenic locations.

Below are a couple of photos taken from the Sneak Peek.

As you can tell from the date of my last entry I’ve been somewhat of an online recluse lately. However what better reason to start posting again than because of a great wedding shoot that we had on Saturday?
Natalie and Andrew have the cutest story. They attended the same primary and secondary schools together. But it wasn’t until after school had finished did they find each other again.
Click on the photo below to catch a Sneak Peek.

Alternatively, here’s some photos from the Sneak Peek in case you’re a bit short of time right now.

Winter weddings are an interesting affair with one eye always on the weather. For winter wedding photos there’s routinely a “dry” plan and a “wet” plan. However last weekend’s wedding between Sam and Ben was blessed with some of the best conditions that we’ve seen in quite a while. The “dry” plan was happily swung into action.
Sam and Ben met eleven years ago at university. On Sunday they got married at the Melbourne Grammar Chapel, and they had the grandest of receptions at Rippon Lea. The highlight of the night was definitely their well choreographed first waltz.
Check out a Sneak Peek of their photos by clicking the below image:

Some couples learn about THIA Photography from my website, some from my blog, some hear about it from their friends, some find it in the strangest of ways…
Late last year Elaine and I put our unit on the market. Two of the many people who attended an inspection were Maria and Rex. They were to be wed this year, and just so happened to require the services of a photographer. They spotted a pile of our business cards on the coffee table which lead them to THIA Photography.
On Saturday, Elaine and I had the opportunity to photograph their wedding.
It turns out that coincidences arrive in pairs, as Maria and Rex had planned for their wedding to be held at Quat Quatta almost two years to the day that Elaine and I had our reception there.
Below are some photos from Saturday, but to see the complete Sneak Peek click on the link below!

It’s been a busy few days, but I’ve managed to finish Sarah and Damien’s pre-designed album draft before they get back from their honeymoon this week. I really like their album and I hope they do too! You can see it before they do by clicking here.
For those not familiar with THIA Photography, we provide a custom-designed wedding album draft for all our wedding couples. Usually ready by the time they get back from their honeymoon, it’s an online version of what we think their album could look like. Of course, they always have the final say on what stays in and what gets thrown out. But I think the process of providing them a head start with the pre-designed draft is a much better way of designing albums than the regular method of making couples design their own albums from scratch.
Here’s a couple of sample spreads from the Sarah and Damien’s draft:
