One really important thing about Denise and Roy’s album I neglected to mention is that some of the images used in the album were shot by Elaine! Can you tell which ones they were? No? Well that’s the really great thing about her shots, they meld so well into the album and really compliment my shooting style.
Elaine’s been working hard to build on her photography skills over the past months, and we’re all starting to see the awesome results. Even at this early stage she’s already proven she has the natural talent needed to pre-empt when a particularly beautiful moment is about to happen.
As we progress through this wedding season I’ll be looking for opportunities to get Elaine more experience shooting weddings, so don’t be surprised if your next conversation with her has to do with the beautiful bokeh produced by Canon’s large aperture eight bladed fixed focal length telephoto lenses.
Denise and Roy were married on the 25th of September in Fiji, and should have just arrived back from their honeymoon today! I’ve been working hard to put their album pre-design together over the last few weeks to make sure it’s ready by today…
I really loved putting this album together because there were so many uniquely spectacular photos captured on that day. Below is one shot in particular that has been getting a lot of feedback since I posted it as part of the first batch of photos.
I remember shooting in tight on Denise and Roy to get their facial expressions as the petals few around them. However I didn’t really notice the great expression on her face until I backed up the photos after the tea ceremony. It’s just such a fun photo. Love that moment!
Just after Michi and Vi’s wedding one of lovely bridesmaids Shilling sent me this great e-mail:
Hi Paul,
I just visited your site for Michi and Vi’s wedding..God, it goods great with the music!!
Certainly remind me of all those happy moments in that splendid day!
Thanks for the good job~
She also asked if I had some photos of the bridal party, especially the ones where Matt and Carl had to get down on one knee to present her and Laila with their bouquets. Sweet eh?
If you’ve watched any of my photo presentations you’d know that there’s a backing track synched with the image transitions. All of the music to date (except for the Fijian music used for Denise and Roy’s photo presentation) is royalty free, meaning that I’m not breaching copyright, or having to pay the artists for commercial use of their songs.
However, I’ve decided that I want to turn it into a win-win situation by asking all of you out there who are up-and-coming musicians to contact me. My thoughts are, you let me use your tracks for the photo presentations, and I’ll make sure that your name, and a link to your website, is included in the photo presentation. Each photo presentation is viewed by at least 200+ unique visitors (often way more), so we’re talking some pretty decent exposure.
Of course, I’m generally preferably looking for some acoustic music with nice vocals that’s well suited to a wedding photo presentation, but I’ll consider anything (except perhaps songs about how your boyfriend/girlfriend just split up with you and now you’re going to fire bomb his/her house).
If you’re interested, or know anyone who would be, leave a comment or e-mail me at paul@thiaphotography.com.
Some of you may know that I got my start in the wedding industry as a DJ. For five hours on a Saturday night I spun tunes ranging from background music, to the first dance, to the post-formality dancing mayhem. I saw it all, the Nutbush, the Chicken dance, the Macarena, the Bus Stop… or so I thought…
Check this out, it’s a whole wedding party dancing to Michael Jackson’s Thriller! Awesome! Weddings should be fun, and what better way than a choreographed dance routine?!?
I’m so pumped about this that I’m putting out this offer to any soon-to-be bridal couple…
