Sarah and Damien’s pre-designed album

March 16th, 2008 by paul

It’s been a busy few days, but I’ve managed to finish Sarah and Damien’s pre-designed album draft before they get back from their honeymoon this week. I really like their album and I hope they do too! You can see it before they do by clicking here.

For those not familiar with THIA Photography, we provide a custom-designed wedding album draft for all our wedding couples. Usually ready by the time they get back from their honeymoon, it’s an online version of what we think their album could look like. Of course, they always have the final say on what stays in and what gets thrown out. But I think the process of providing them a head start with the pre-designed draft is a much better way of designing albums than the regular method of making couples design their own albums from scratch.

Here’s a couple of sample spreads from the Sarah and Damien’s draft:

Jing & Andy’s Wedding

March 12th, 2008 by paul

On Saturday I had the opportunity to shoot the most fun wedding! I met Jing and Andy through shooting Luther and Rita’s wedding back in February 2007. Since then Jing’s gone from being the bridesmaid to the most beautiful bride. We had a great afternoon of shooting that took us to some pretty amazing locations. None more cool than Luna Park. It was amazing how congratulatory the crowds were. All the young girls kept screaming “congratulations! congratulations!”

It’s definitely worth your 3 minutes and 27 seconds to watch their Sneak Peek.

Here’s a selection of photos from the Sneak Peek:

Just a quick note about Sneak Peeks for those who may not be familiar with the concept… THIA Photography believes that in the age of digital photography, if your friends can e-mail you photos from your wedding just days after it happened, there’s no reason why your professional photographer can’t do the same. Besides, it makes brides and grooms really happy… and isn’t that what it’s all about? :-D

Curiosity

March 7th, 2008 by paul

Don’t scroll down yet, I’ve got a little game to play.

If you were born in the late ‘70s or early ‘80s you’d no doubt remember watching the Curiosity Show. It was an absolute staple for after-school television… well for the geeky kids anyway. They always had this 30-second bit where they’d make you guess what an item was, but they only showed you extreme close-ups or pixelated overviews. Over the 30-seconds they’d reveal more and more until you’d finally see what the item was.

This is my hack-job of an effort to try the same.

This is a 100% crop from a picture taken with my Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro at ISO 800 (hence the graininess)

Here’s a much better shot… of a butterfly!

I noticed this little fella hanging around on the front wall of our house. It was sort of just sitting there not doing much. Even a few pops of the flash didn’t bother it, which was sort of surprising. I must say, I didn’t realise how furry butterflies are.
