Some couples learn about THIA Photography from my website, some from my blog, some hear about it from their friends, some find it in the strangest of ways…
Late last year Elaine and I put our unit on the market. Two of the many people who attended an inspection were Maria and Rex. They were to be wed this year, and just so happened to require the services of a photographer. They spotted a pile of our business cards on the coffee table which lead them to THIA Photography.
On Saturday, Elaine and I had the opportunity to photograph their wedding.
It turns out that coincidences arrive in pairs, as Maria and Rex had planned for their wedding to be held at Quat Quatta almost two years to the day that Elaine and I had our reception there.
Below are some photos from Saturday, but to see the complete Sneak Peek click on the link below!

I’ve been mucking around with some old photos that were originally intented to be made into panoramas. They’ve been sitting around doing nothing as there were two hurdles I had yet to overcome. The first was finding a quality method to stitch the images together (there’s a lot of so-so methods), and the second was finding a suitable method to display them on this weblog. I think I’ve now overcome both hurdles. I’ll let you know how in a later post. But for the time being, here’s a test panorama taken from a series of photos taken on and island in Thailand. Click and drag to have a look around.

Elaine and I got married on the 23rd of April, 2006, meaning that yesterday was our two-year wedding anniversary. In those years Elaine and I travelled to Singapore, Thailand, Fiji and New Zealand. We drove all around Victoria visiting lovely country towns and their commendable wineries. We sold our first unit and bought a new house. We grew THIA Photography from nothing into a business providing a truly unique offering in the wedding industry. It’s truly been a great two years, and of course I have Elaine to thank for that. She honestly has been such a blessing in my life.
Last night we celebrated by visiting a local restaurant called La Fontana. It serves up old school Italian food in a fine dining experience. Totally amazing food. Apologies for the quality of photos below, they really don’t represent how good these dishes were, but I forgot my big camera and had to use my camera phone.

Elaine and I have just got back from a weekend trip to Wilsons Promontory. It was to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary this week. We left town on Friday to spend some time at my parents’ holiday house in Cape Schanck, before leaving for Wilson Promontory on Saturday morning. We got to the National Park a little before midday. After paying the modest $10 fee for a day pass we headed straight to Squeaky Beach to see if the beach was indeed squeaky. At first we were a little disappointed. The sand leading to the beach seemed like the same sand we’d seen at just about every other beach. But as we neared the water the sand turned pure white, and… it began squeaking! It’s quite a strange phenomenon, akin to walking on an indoor basketball court in new sneakers. Elaine spent five minutes walking in circles, dragging her feet all the while to induce the squeaking. She can be so cute sometimes.

Elaine squeaking down beach.

Next up we decided to climb Mount Oberon. Getting to the peak involved a 3.4km walk up a steadily steep incline. However the views from the top more than compensated for the 45 minute walk.

Not the most inviting sign welcoming you to the peak.

The views are awesome. The beach in the middle is Squeaky Beach.

The Telstra tower just below the peak.
Some will understand why I included this… some may not.

We stayed the night at Waratah Park Country House, which is a great little place to stay if you’re in that part of the world. Our room had a wonderful view of Waratah Bay.

The view from our room.

The next day after breakfast we headed off back to Melbourne. Although we certainly took our time, stopping by a number of places and wineries on the way.

A fortnight ago Elaine and I had the most fortunate opportunity to shoot Joey and Derek’s wedding. They had a mid-morning wedding at Potters Receptions in Warrandyte, followed by a lunch reception. I’m finding that lunch receptions have really become quite popular in recent times. From a photographer’s perspective they’re also good because it frees up the whole afternoon for location photos.
Below are some photos from their >>>Sneak Peek Presentation<<<.
